Who we are…
We are the burns family!
Sam has always loved flying, traveling, coming up with entrepreneurial ideas to solve problems in the world, and communicating God’s love for people. Alyx loves dancing, mentoring, traveling, and opening up our home to share God’s love for people. We both love our little girls, and find that if we do nothing else on a given day but play with them and show them love, it will have been a great day.
Sam is a graduate of the Moody Aviation program and is licensed as a Commercial Pilot and Aircraft Mechanic. He also has a degree in Business Management from the University of Arizona. Alyx has a degree in Biblical Studies from Wayland University and hopes to pursue higher education and training in counseling services.
Our family mission is to provide logistical and spiritual support to help others fulfill their mission in the Brazilian Amazon. We want to see these workers logistically and spiritually supported and cared for, because no one should be forgotten in the jungle!
Where we are going…
In 2024, we are planning to move to Manaus, Brazil to join the incredible team at Missão do Céu (MDC). The ministry uses missionary aviation to serve God, the Church and the Amazon peoples. They mobilize churches to reach out to remote communities, continuing the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Amazon.
We will operate in programs and projects through partnerships with missionary organizations, churches or on our own initiative, using small planes to take the Gospel further, offering a fast, comfortable and safe transport. Faced with the enormous challenge of sharing God’s love in the Amazon, our main tool is aviation. The MDC fleet consists of a Compair 9 aircraft and a Cessna U206 Sea-plane. These aircraft transport teams quickly, comfortably and safely.

We are working toward a goal of $8,500 in committed monthly support for this mission by February 28, 2024, before we begin our pre-field orientation.
